So EPISD has selected its finalist. 

Not that I care. 

Prior to, I saw that local media was making a big deal out of one trustee and her relationship to one of the finalists.

What I can gather it was a bunch of ugly people beating up on the hot chick. 

What was richer still is that one of the ugly people - Jaime Abeytia - was railing on the hot chick.

But it was not too long ago, when Jaime got big paycheck from a school district bond election. 

It just so happened that Jaime's girlfriend is a school board trustee.

What's the likelihood of Jaime running that bond election if not for his girlfriend? 

What he was bitching about with the hot chick, is same shit he and his girlfriend pulled. 

Let me be clear, I do not care.

I am glad Jaime got some money to take his girlfriend to Applebee's, but spare us the self-righteousness.  

 

The "Why" Claudia Wins No Matter What

No matter what happens next spring Claudia Ordaz wins one way or the other.

Her race against Art Fierro is likely to get expensive.  

Which is good for Claudia AND Vince. 

Why?

Cos' more than likely Vince will be running Claudia's campaign. 

Why?

Well, he's not exactly employed or running a business.

So he needs the cash. 

And all that campaign cash is going hit Claudia's and/or Vince's personal bank account one way or the other. 

So if you see Claudia next year walking around with a LV bag, well, it is a LV bag that lobby money helped pay for.  

Come to think of it...that shit sounds like a money laundering scheme. 

"Vince bought it for me."

Yeah, but how did Vince get the money?

"Consulting."

You see where I am going with this...

 

 

Somebody Else Wants To Run?

Marisa Marquez's name is being thrown out there again for something. 

Whether it be a House seat or Senate seat.

And if it is a House seat, apparently, she too has options.  

If she was able to take out Paul Moreno, and survive two primaries afterwards, she probably could make mince meat out of Lina, Art, Claudia or Mary. 

But if I had to bet, I doubt she runs.

But who knows?

Maybe because of redistricting she sees an easy path back to Austin.  

 

The "Why" Art Fierro Can Win...

 

When Claudia ran for her current seat she defeated a newcomer.  

But now she is challenging not exactly a newcomer in El Paso politics. 

Not that Claudia is lazy or one to back down from a fight. 

I have been one to make fun of Art.  

But in all seriousness, Art holds his own.  

Why?

Well, here's what  "El Paso's premier source for insightful policy analysis with in-depth coverage of local, regional, state, and national politics" had to say about Art:

It's hard NOT to like Art.  

And given that primaries to an extent are personality contests, Art will not be easy to beat.

 

 

 

Hold up...Lina is retiring???

Claudia Ordaz Perez is moving districts to avoid taking on a fellow female, Lina Ortega. 

But there is a rumor out there being spread that Lina is NOT retiring after all. 

And it ain't just one or two people saying it from the same political circle. 

And, it gets better.

Apparently, Lina is gonna hold off any announcements until the very last day, at which point shortly thereafter, another Ortega - Steve - announces he's running for her seat. 

If this rumor is true, my God, Claudia, got royally phucked. 

We have seen this before like when Shapleigh retired...he had everyone lined up for Jose Rodriguez. 

But it is something of dick move for constituents of that district.  

They are being denied a choice in representation because of something that amounts to nepotism.  

The more things change in El Paso....
