The Forma Ad

So this ad campaign by Forma that has some people bent out-of-shape. 

There are a few pieces to this.

One is that being pissed off makes for good politics.  

The other piece means that the money folks behind the campaign feel somewhat nervous about who might be mayor.

And probably the more interesting piece, as loud as some people are denouncing this campaign, what is louder is the silence of some other people like your Congresswoman.

Veronica Escobar is not one to stay quite about anything. 

But have you heard her rail against the ad campaign? 

No.

Why? Cos' her and friends, and financial backers, have been the ones calling the shots in El Paso for the last ten years or so. Any condemnation on the substance of the ad campaign is condemnation of Escobar and Company's own track record.  

So what gives?

Veronica Carbajal can be a great mayor.   But she has some ideas that probably should never see the light of day, but you know what? Her heart is in the right place and she at least gives a shit. 

But same applies to money behind that ad campaign.  Those folks have some good ideas, but like Carbajal, also have some ideas - downtown arena - that should never break ground.  But they too, like Carbajal, do give a shit and have their heart in the right place.

What to do?

The money crowd and Carbajal have their own visions how to make El Paso better, but should she be Mayor, both her and that crowd need to find common ground if they really want to move City forward, and that may mean each side has to make compromises they do not want to make. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

When you are sick, but not that sick

Jaime Abeytia has the Wuhan.

Which sucks. 

I was not gonna say anything, but since he got diagnosed it seems like all he does is post on facebook.

I am sorry, but when you are sick as a fucking dog, the last thing you want to do is anything at all. 

And yet, he finds away to score his political points as he is "suffering". 

Like he said himself, his weight is an issue. 

But whose fault is that? 

Because that we need to shut down again?

No. 

Fatties stay home.  

Let the rest us of get back to work. 

Mail-in Ballots

Ummm...maybe one you of guys can explain it.

So last election cycle, when you showed up to the poll, the El Paso muni races were towards the bottom of the ballot...so I was told.

Okay.

This cycle, if you requested the mail-in ballot, El Paso County has the muni races on-the-top of the ballot.   POTUSA is just below "Judge, City of El Paso, Municipal Court of Appeals". 

It seems a bit off. 

But what do I know?

Dee Margo. 

The guy that fancies himself as a rich savy business guy. 

But somehow this year his campaign has spent $70,000 on some side piece named Trisha, $90,000 on some company called Octopus and about $40,000 on polling...and what does he have to show for it? 

Sweet. Fuck. All. 

We are talking about $200,000 just pissed away. 

Veronica Carbajal is working with far less, but somehow her campaign looks a lot more organized and formidable compared to his.  

How do you explain that kind of shit to your donors?

Fortunately, for some, you do not have to since they did not want to throw good money after bad, and gave to Oscar Leeser. 

Now just imagine, you're the incumbent, and having spent that money and you did NOT make into the runoff because some broke lefty out-hustled you.
