Mayoral Endorsement

Not that you all should give two shits about my opinion...

...BUT if you do...Vote Veronica Carbajal.

Why?

Look, no matter who wins, your taxes will be raised again.  That or appraisals are gonna increase. 

But only one candidate might actually cut spending long-term.

And that candidate is Carbajal.

Dee Margo is going to push for the arena. 

Carlos Gallinar, in order to stay in the good graces of the money guys, will push for the arena.

Oscar Leeser, who has never really taken a political stand on anything, will NOT stop the arena. 

But you know who will stop it?

Carbajal. 

Mind you, the arena is supposed to cost $185 million, but that was back using numbers 10-15 years ago.  Fast forward now, and you can almost be certain that arena construction cost has doubled in price. 

But let me clear something up before I go any further.  No, Woody Hunt and Paul Foster are not evil.  They are successful businessmen.  If I could spend just an hour hearing those guys talk shop, I would.  But that is where I would draw the line.  They mean well when they want to give back to the community.  In their world, $185 million is chump change.  But for everyone else....not exactly. 

Now back to the arena, it does not make any sense to push for the construction of $300 million + arena in light of all this Wuhan shit.  Given the increase in the cost of construction and uncertainty of bookings it is highly unlikely that the City would see a return on investment any time in the near future....an investment only few will be able to enjoy. 

If you are going to blow that kind of money, might as well take your existing trolley and run a line from Downtown to UMC to the Lower Valley.  You want to connect the city, there you have it.  But that is neither here nor there. 

So if you do actually want to stop the City going further down the hole, and leaving you all on the hook to pay for it, as fate would have it, you would need to vote for Carbajal. 

 

 

 

 

Me vs Wuhan

So I am clear of the Wuhan.

I think.  

This past Monday I went to the clinic to get tested again, but per the staff at the clinic, per CDC guidelines, if you have been in quarantine for 10 days and have not had any symptoms for 3-4 days you do not need to get tested again. 

This is what the Wuhan was up against. I won. I think.

So why didn't the clinic want to test me again?

Apparently, the virus could be "dead", their word not mine, but I could still test positive. 

At that point, I realized nobody really knows what the fuck is going on with the Wuhan.

Yes, prior to my first test, I did feel fatigue and did have headaches in the morning.  But I ran no temperature.  I did not have severe coughing or sneezing.  Had it not been for the fact my little Guatemalan half-breed of a sister also experienced similar symptoms, our mother would not have pushed us to get tested.  If it were only me, nobody would have given a fuck. 

And honestly, I wish it would have only been me because I would have never gotten tested.  

Quarantine itself was far more damaging than Wuhan itself.  

Depression was starting to kick-in.

I am not one to sit still.  

Although I am something of a loner, I am a callejero.

Even quarantined, I would still drive around town, even if I could not get off anywhere.  

Or I would lay by the pool to get some sun.  

I know people knock supplements, but oddly enough, the clinic prescribed Vitamin D and Vitamin C in addition to the antibiotics and generic Aleve they prescribed.  

Wuhan is taking people's lives, but I am not sure we are handling it the right way.

In one of my drives to keep my sanity, I saw man attempt suicide, and I called 9-1-1.  Fortunately, while I was on the phone with the operator, and the man got out of the ditch where was going to have himself from a bridge guard rail. 

People are losing it out there.

And I am more concerned about that then Wuhan itself. 

 

 

 

 

 

District 2 Race

I am clear of Wuhan...sorta...but that is a post for later. 

For now, let's talk about....Dee Margo.

Nah.  

No, let us talk instead about another incumbent who might be in trouble - Boston's own Alexsandra Annello.

She is up against her own former staffer, El Paso's own, Judy Gutierrez. 

Now Annello cannot argue she has more experience  than Judy or that Judy does not understand the issues.

And certainly when it comes to constituent services no way on God's green Earth can Annello say she has done more than Judy. 

Judy, the civil servant, has definitely done much more of walking while Annello, the elected official, has done more of the talking. 

But even then, Annello really does not even speak for herself or her district.

She either follows Cassandra Hernandez's cues like proposing Soviet-style take over of local industry such as that of the local utility, or do whatever her boss, Susie Byrd, tells her to do...which often involves just flinging figurative shit all over the place. 

But truth be told, Annello was the never candidate de jure.

She was told to run for one reason and one reason only...take out Jim Tolbert.  

And why was that? 

Because Tolbert did not want to take Susie's orders. 

So this really isn't race between Annello and Gutierrez.  

It is race between Gutierrez and Susie. 

And I have funny feeling that people like Judy more than Susie.
