She Could Be Mayor

Right now in the mayor's race, it is a race for second....who can make it into a run-off with Oscar Leeser?

After wards, the race becomes who can beat Leeser?

If there is anyone who could beat Oscar Leeser in a run-off you would think it would be Veronica Carbajal. 

Forget her policy stances for a sec.

She is Latina and a Democrat.  

Now, as far as her stances are concerned...

I do not care because apparently you do not either.  A lot of you bitch and moan about the property tax rate, or certificates of obligation, but that is all that you do.  It is like me bitching about the humidity in Dallas.  I could solve that by moving, but I haven't.  

So back to her stances, at least you know where she stands.  

Oscar tries to not say a damn thing.

Carlos Gallinar says a lot without saying anything at all.

And then there is your Mayor. 

But you gotta hand it to Gallinar...he's out there hustling.  

Carbajal? Well, not that she isn't, but she probably could campaign a bit smarter, but that's tall order if you are surrounded by folks like Jose Rodriguez. 

And maybe I am wrong, it just seems like her being a lefty Latina running to be mayor that there would be lot more interest in her campaign from lefty Latino organizations nationally.   

Again, she has everything going for as checking the boxes, she is just missing an ingredient or two to get her in the run-off, but she ain't gonna get it from Jose. 

 

 

 

I got the Wuhan

That's right, folks.

I got the Wuhan.

Now, here's the thing. 

I have not had a fever.

I have not had shortness of breath.

But I have been feeling fatigued.

So yesterday, I got a rapid test.  Shortly after a doctor tells me I got it.

And he also tells me there is not really much I can do about it.

So what's the moral of this story? 

I dunno. 

But something about getting diagnosed, and told you are on your own seems to be more hazardous to your health than just going on about life like you had a cold. 

 

 

Dee Margo - Young People and the Wuhan

Per KTSM your mayor said:

“If almost 50-percent of our positives are coming from the 20 and 30-year-old’s that’s the group that needs to get their act together.”

And said:

“Probably in their homes, I’m hearing on social media about a lot of pool parties. People are gathering at those and they’re not wearing their masks.”

I just want to know what changed between now and THEN...

Lyda Ness-Garcia

You gotta hand it to her. 

No matter how many times she lost, she kept at it. 

And look at her now.  

Now when you see her at the courthouse you have to refer to her as "Your Honor". 

All things consider, she probably caught a break losing at least two of those races where pay the sucks, and the hours suck even more.  

The other jobs would have required her to kiss constituent ass.

In this job? Quite the opposite.  Everybody now has to kiss HER ass. 

Any lessons to be drawn?

I dunno. 

But if there is one, God does have a better plan, we just do not see it at that moment. 

 

 

 

 

Mayor's Race - Spending

Campaign finance reports. 

I looked so you do not have to.

Oscar Lesser? Not much to see there.  Really.  There is not much there at all.

Carlos Gallinar? Kinda interesting.  Michael Apodaca is getting paid peanuts, but Stephanie Acosta? is not doing too bad for herself.  

Veronica Carbajal? Exhausting.  

And then there is Dee. 

I guess he has fired Forma cos' I do not see them on the report. 

But I do see a one Trisha Encinas, who has made $35,500 so far "working" for Dee.  I say "working" because Dee is up shit creek without a paddle.    I do not see what value Ms. Encinas is bringing to the table that is worth $35,500.00 so far.  There have been too many flubs by Dee.   Maybe she is doing great things for Dee behind the scenes?

Or maybe Dee just does not care anymore.

I dunno.

Dee does not owe me an explanation, but he probably does owe everyone who has contributed to his campaign one.

Downtown Arena

Been a bit busy, but seeing that the Chihuahuas will not be playing anytime soon got me thinking about that downtown arena.

I assume this pandemic business will end the day after election day, but let us assume we must live in a world where pandemics are the norm.

Does it make sense for the City to build an arena?

If so, do seats need to be six feet apart?

There is an assumption that things will get back to normal right if the arena is to be built, right?
