Sito!!!

Now that Cesar Blanco, a man who bought his first home in San Antonio before he bought one in El Paso, will be State Senator, I got to thinking who is going to hire.

When Eliot Shapleigh left the Senate, he left his trash in the office for Jose Rodriguez to pick it up.

Although Rodriguez did make a few additions of his own like Sito Negro who makes about $70,000 per year. 

But I doubt Blanco wants to pick up any of Rodriguez's staffers.  

You know what would be funny?

Blanco hires Eliza Tomatillo as his new Chief of Staff making $100,000 annually, while freshman State Representative Claudia Ordaz, instead of focusing on a future legislative career, is worried about whether or not her unemployed husband can  find another job in El Paso that pays $100,000.

Life is weird like that.

But back to Sito. 

I doubt Sito ever made the kinda money he is making now with Rodriguez as he did as "journalist".

So it will be tough.

Who in El Paso can afford an in-house PR guy for $70,000?

Well, maybe El Paso Electric.  You know the company Rodriguez rails against. 

Or Western Refining.  You know...the company in an industry that Rodriguez rails against. 

Me? I do not care what he does. 

I do think it is funny though that Sito, who is kinda of a dreamer, will struggle with himself as he has to decide between money and his "values."

"Western Refining has a 401K, but the polar bears, man."

But rumour has it he may potentially end-up working for State Representative Lina Ortega.  

Which would be a good fit. 

He does not do much as it is now, and Lina does not do much herself.

It would be a pay cut, but if we are being honest, Sito was probably being overpaid to begin with.

 

That's Not Gonna Work

Over the weekend, Claudia Ordaz Perez's campaign consultant and friend, Jaime Abeytia, put an El Pasoan - Ross Moore - on blast.  

This is after the fact she won her race handily.  

Instead of doing the grown-up thing and letting either Ross Moore call Claudia with his tail tucked between his legs, or Claudia call him, "Ross, the campaign is over, and I am not leaving anytime soon, so we either fix this or not", she had Jaime do a blog post about him. 

If Claudia runs into problems in Austin, is her instinct always going to be, "Jaime, do a post on so-so and this is what you need to say."?

That just ain't gonna work.

Now, Claudia is gonna have to start explaining herself and trying to clarify her relationship with Jaime to folks in Austin.

If you're a legislator from Bumblefuck, Texas, do you want to confide in or deal with a legislator, who would be willingly to air out your dirty laundry online?

Probably not.  

 

  

 

 

You Gotta Hand It To Forma

I have been beating up on Forma a lot because of its piss poor performance lately with its client Dee Margo. 

But Forma did knock it out-of-the-park with Claudia Ordaz Perez.

Don't kid yourself that Claudia would have won it with just only her rag-tag team of consultants, Vince Perez and Jaime Abeytia.  The former is a run-off, and latter got his ass handed to him.

If anyone knows what it is like to run against most of the Delegation and nearly all the rest of the El Paso electeds, it is Marisa Marquez. 

That and Forma opened the money doors in both Austin and El Paso for Claudia.  

So good job, Marissa and Dick!

 

Claudia and The Delegation

So now that Claudia Ordaz Perez will be the next State Representative to represent District 76, what now?

Does the Delegation and Claudia kiss and make-up? 

Yea...sorta.

Say what you will about the Delegation, and there is plenty I can say about it, their uneasiness with Claudia is not exactly totally unwarranted. 

The uneasiness is not so much about Claudia herself, BUT about who comes along with Claudia...Vince Perez and Jaime Abeytia. 

The Delegation will be cordial with Claudia, but to confide in her as they would with other legislators?

Very unlikely.  

So what does Claudia do?

Short of divorcing herself from Vince, not much...at least as it relates to the rest of the Delegation. 

Claudia will have to endear herself to legislators from other locales....much like how Norma Chavez, and Marisa Marquez did before.

Which is fine because the Delegation really has no pull in the Texas Legislature...

UNLESS...in the off chance Democrats do win the Texas House. 

Then that is where it gets a little trickier for Claudia.  

But her biggest issue right now is not the Delegation...it's money. 

These next two months will be the longest for her and husband.  

You do not want to be a state legislator and worry about whether or not you will have enough to cover the bills, or nag your husband to look for a job.

El Paso's Biggest Loser

So my girl, Tomatillo, did not win. :(........

It is okay. 

In the long run, Tomatillo may not see it that way now, but losing might be a blessing.  If you are young, female and single, the last thing you want to do is be an elected anything in the Texas Legislature.  The pay is shit.  I mean you ain't gonna be able to afford a LV bag on a state legislator's salary.

And look, I dropped on $1,000.00 on both Beto and Norma Chavez.  I have been wrong before, and will probably be wrong again, but when is all said and done, I am young, Latin and good-looking.  So no matter what...I still end-up winning regardless.

Where else was I wrong?

Ah, Vince Perez.

Yes, I know I said he would win outright with 60 percent or more.  

Well, it turns out nearly 60 percent voted for someone else. 

You know it is has to be uncomfortable at the Perez's house.  

Yes, Claudia won, but she won a position where the pay is shit.

Vince?

He makes over $100,000 to show up once-a-week to work.   Claudia was making at least $35,000.00 

For a young couple in El Paso bringing home nearly $150,000 a year...not bad.

But looks like belt-tightening is on the horizon.

Should he end-up losing the run-off, which is very possible, any job that pays over $100,000 that he should get is actually going to make him work for it. 

And any job that will pay him $100,000 is probably not in El Paso.  

That or maybe Claudia Ordaz Perez becomes just Claudia Ordaz...which would help her in Austin, but more on that later.  And no, not for the reasons you think I would think.
