Look, I get it.

If you feel like your candidate is struggling you gotta find anything and everything to throw out there. 

In this case, Tomatillo took a picture with "extremist Republicans" Max Grossman and some Trumper, who originally is from Mexico. 

It is time for Tomatillo to turn in her Little Red Book for hanging out with a bunch of reactionaries. 

But here is what is really funny. 

The guy calling those folks "extremist Republicans" has spent most of his time bitching and moaning about Dee Margo for being white and Republican. 

But when Dee cuts a check for a $1,000 to his employer, Claudia Ordaz Perez...silence. 

Which makes it all the more awkward because that same guy is bitching and moaning about how it is suspicious that the Delegation that is contributing to Tomatillo.  The Delegation being made up of a bunch of lefty Democrats.  

To be honest, I do not care where a candidate gets his or her money.  

Whether it is paying for printing, or feeding an morbidly obese walker, those things cost money. 

And you gotta take what you can get from where ever you can get it from. 

How do you think former State Representatives Marisa Marquez, and Naomi Gonzalez won their seats? 

With a shit ton of money.  

So good for Claudia taking Republican money.  But hopefully her paid campaign staff can cool it with all the party purity bullshit after the election.

As far as the photos, it is a rookie mistake.

Perhaps Tomatillo and the City Representative-elect are genuinely good friends and as a friend, she showed up. 

The "smart" thing would have been to call your friend and meet-up at another date. 

On the other hand, her friend did just win her race.  She will be the elected official. So as far as protocol and all that stupid shit is concerned, should Tomatillo win she is going to have deal with friend one way or the other. 

Or Tomatillo is just the kind of friend that DGAF.  And isn't that the friend we all want to have?

 

 

 

Claudia Ordaz Perez's Spokesperson

 A couple of days ago, wannabe State Representative Claudia O. Perez's hired spokesperson, Jaime Abeytia, took to the internet to defend her honor. 

What's the best he could come up with?

Claudia is Food City.  

And Tomatillo is H-E-B. 

This is how bad it has gotten for Claudia "Food City" Perez.  

The other thing he came up with, and it is a line David K has used, is that Tomatillo's candidacy smacks of backroom deals.  

This is where it gets funny. 

For the longest time, "the powers that be" have always wanted a legislative delegation that got along.  They did not want any local, or statewide, headlines about delegation infighting. 

Well, if your goal is to have the Delegation get along, then it stands to reason that the Delegation would offer a preferred candidate. 

"But this an insult to the voters of District 76!!!"

Not really. 

We are talking about a Democratic primary here, and the Delegation is, well, entirely Democratic.

So it makes sense that Democratic officeholders would recommend to other fellow Democrats a candidate they would like. 

"But it's about control!"

This is where it starts to get dishonest. 

Why?

What was the common gripe against Norma Chavez, Marisa Marquez, and Naomi Gonzalez? 

They were "Republicans" because they would work with the party in charge.

I do find it kinda funny that some of the same folks that donated to Chavez, Marquez and Gonzalez also have donated to Claudia.  But who would constantly call out Marquez and Gonzalez for the contributions they received?  Jaime. 

But these arguments put forth by Claudia's paid spokesperson are there to distract the bigger issue facing Claudia. 

What is that?

She is not well-liked.

Not that endorsements win races, but there is something rather weird about the fact that no officeholder has endorsed Claudia.  She has been in the game longer than Tomatillo, and yet you will find no office holder, other than her husband, or community leader endorsing her. 

From the look of things, hell, even my former boss, Norma Chavez, was more well-liked than Claudia. 

The saying that comes to mind, "If everyone around you seems like an asshole, you're probably the asshole."

 

 

 

 

 

Claudia Ordaz - Unenforced Errors

I have said it many times before on this not-so humble blog...the El Paso Times has Claudia Ordaz Perez in its crosshairs.

The El Paso Times is creating a narrative with these stories, and this narrative will be used against her when the El Paso Times chooses NOT to endorse her. 

And unfortunately, Claudia has made it way too easy for the EPT. 

She announced she was running for State Representative on October 23rd of last year.  Three months ago.

She resigned...sorta. 

I thought she was making a dumbass move by sticking around council after she made her announcement. 

City Council and everything around it is toxic.

But no, I am an idiot. 

Well, it has been three months since she made her announcement, and what has sticking around on city council gotten her?

Nothing but bad press. 

This is the second story in less than a month about ethics complaints filed with City against her.

And the only reason why the stories are there is because in her infinite wisdom sticking around until her sit was filled was the smart thing to do. 

Maybe I am wrong, but I do not think you file an ethics complaint against a former City Representative.

Or at very least, had she been a FORMER City Representative when she announced this second complaint would not have been filed against her. 

Do not tell me she stuck around because she needed the money. 

Her husband got another pay raise, and makes good money.  You are gonna tell me she could not survive on her husband's salary alone for a few months to focus on campaigning?

For the candidate with experience, she has made - and probably still making - decisions that put that experience in doubt.

 

 

 

I hate Rich People Until I don't!

I know there is a city council run-off.  

From what I have heard, it is a choice between two Trump supporters. 

So I say good!

Sorta.

One of them though - Claudia Rodriguez - was arrested for plying minors with alcohol.

Which upsets me. 

Because why did no woman ply me with alcohol when I was minor? Where was Max's Sra. Robinson??? I done been cheated in this game called life.  

But that being said, kinda do not care. 

I mean she is originally from Mexico, and where she got popped - Downtown El Paso - is just a few blocks from Mexico, and if we are being honest, sometimes kinda hard to tell where Mexico begins and the US ends.  To be clear, that last bit, I mean that as a compliment.

So why does Claudia suck?

On one hand, I get it...or sort get it.

Some of y'all get worked up over anything Woody Hunt, Paul Foster or any other rich guy in El Paso - except Ted Houghton because he is not really rich - want to do for El Paso. 

"But, but, but they are trying make money off the city!!!"

There are probably easier ways to make 10 percent than have to deal with all the bullshit that is involved in dealing with local government. 

But y'all do not see it that way. 

Y'all see it as rich people trying to control shit.  

Which is why Claudia Rodriguez is running...or sorta why.

You see though Claudia is not opposed to rich people influencing the city.  

She is just opposed to local people influencing the city. 

Apparently, she has raised about $30,000 from Houston billionaire, J.P. Bryan. 

So the guy who went to Ysleta, Woody, his opinion has less value to Claudia than the guy who lives 9 hours away. 

Look, I hear you.

The downtown arena IS still a bad idea.

But you should not need $30,000 to think that. 

Because other wise you are being a bit dishonest when you are railing against local rich guys "setting" the city agenda, when you are taking money from out-of-town billionaires. 

 

 

 

 

 

I Hate Republicans Until I Cash Their Checks

If there is one thing Jaime Abeytia likes to do it is rail against Republicans. 

Which cool.

I do not care much for them either. 

Just cos' I am a Trumpista it does not mean I am a Republican.  

I mean phuck'em.  But same with the Democrats...phuck'em.

But this ain't about me. 

Wannabe State Representative, Claudia O. Perez, hired Jaime Abeytia for "contract labor" per her campaign finance report.

Which again, cool. 

Jaime needs to make a living. 

But what is funny is all the Republican donors on Claudia's report - Download 100770110 (1).

You have Jaime on his blog wanting the Democratic Chair to resign because she is not sufficiently Democratic, and then railing against Max Grossman for supporting a Republican in a Congressional race, and bitching about how this one city representative candidate is Republican, and so on.

But the only reason why Jaime is gonna be able to take his girlfriend to El Taco Tote on Valentine's Day is because his candidate has gotten a shit ton of Republican money.

Has Dee Given Up?

I did think there for a minute maybe Mayor Dee Margo had a chance to win it this November given that 20 people are running against him.

But maybe Dee himself does not think so.

As someone pointed out in the comments section, Dee's facebook page was last updated back in November 28th - CLICK HERE!

Since that time, no "Feliz Navidad", "Happy Hanukkah", "Happy New Year, "Happy Dia de los Reyes", and so on. 

 Those are easy posts for a social media person to crank out.  

But nada. 

Maybe Dee ran a poll, and saw something that spooked him.  

Or maybe the people around him are just incompetent...and there has been no shortage of compliments about the people around him, whether it is his Chief of Staff or campaign coordinator. 

I dunno. 

But whatever it is, it does not look good.

 

Not Straight Ticket

I know we won't have straight-ticket voting anymore, but it did not really hit me until yesterday.

Yesterday I was talking to my grandmother she asked about some letter she received, and it was about absentee bailouts. 

Anyways in talking to her, she says she does not want to vote in March.  She just wants to vote in the general straight-ticket Democrat and be done with it. 

Well, I have not broken the news to her...yet. 

A lot is said about how the Republican base is all a bunch of olds, but in certain parts of Texas the base of Democrats are, well, a bunch of olds. 

What does this mean?

I can only speak from what I know about my grandmother. 

And I honestly doubt she's gonna scroll on those voting machines for "State Representative" or "District Judge" or "Sheriff".

This general in Texas may have the highest voter participation in the history of ever, but it may also end-up having the highest undervote total in both real numbers and percentages.

And now that I have said that a bunch of Democrats are gonna get the olds to request mail-in ballots because "democracy".  

 

 

Calling It Now

Based on absolutely nothing, I am calling the race in Perez v Holguin for Perez. 

Vince will get 60+.  

No run-off.  

In the race between Tomatillo vs Ordaz Perez, I am calling it for Tomatillo. 

She is going to win. 

It is only the xenophobes who do not like Tomatillo. 

Apparently some out there are saying Tomatillo's accent is an issue.  

But again, monolingual xenophobes. 

So now that is out-of-the-way. 

Give me a minute or two to come-up with something else to post about. 

Veronica Escobar - IRGC Spokesperson

I know Veronica Escobar cannot help herself. 

But I would just wish she would cool it on the whole vaporizing of Qassem Soleimani.

He had it coming.  

If anything she should be pissed off because it took so long to send the motherfucker off into the next dimension. 

Here is a person who gets worked up about gay rights, and kids in cages. 

Well, in Iran they hang you if you are gay, and in its war against Iraq the regime sent little boys as suicide bombers into Iraqi trenches.

As far as which government is more fucked up, that is a no-brainer.

Ah, but hold up. 

Iran is more progressive on the issue of transgendered women.  The government will pay for your sex change.  

So maybe that is why Escobar has a soft spot for the Islamic Republic.
