Oh, man.
Poor Dee Margo.
El Paso Times endorsed Cassandra Hernandez-Not Brown at his expense.
Per your El Paso Times:
"We do like that she is willing to express views contrary to those held by Margo. That makes Hernandez a good counter to the mayor."
Well.
As the mayoral race heats up, one can only expect the Times to shit on Dee even more.
But this endorsement just does not suck for Dee only, it also sucks for Claudia Ordaz Perez.
If Claudia was counting on getting the El Paso Times endorsement because of years of experience...well, she is either naive or a dumbass.
Not that having El Paso Times endorsement is necessary to win.
Plenty of candidates have won without it.
BUT Dee and Claudia are two people who do play by the rules and try to get along, and blah blah blah, so for them its going to be a bit of a shock.
My future fiance Elisa Tomatillo-Powers is getting the El Paso Times nod.
As far as the mayor's race, the El Paso Times may not necessarily pick an individual right off the bat, but they may couch it in terms of that it believes someone more reflective of the community should be mayor.
Speaking of the El Paso Times, anybody know who is on the board that makes the endorsement decisions?
Is Bob Moore a "community voice" on the board?
Last cycle, it had Enrique Moreno as a "community voice".
Anyways, long story short, if I were Dee or Claudia I would decline the interview.
