Session is over.
Now what?
Is your State Senator, Jose Rodriguez, going to retire? I would think so, but then I gotta remember he is a guy that if not for senating and stuff, he would be stuck at home with his wife, and no man wants that.
But then what about Mary Gonzalez?
Ms. Gonzalez had a great session.
I am not exactly what you call a fan, but hey, I gotta recognize she did knock out it out-of-the-park.
So we ask again...now what?
Does she go ahead and leave on a high note?
If I am not mistaken, she is vested with a sweet pension now. But what she does not have is a sweet job.
If she wanted to get a sweet job, now would be the time to get it, but that would probably mean retiring.
She can stick around for another term, but then what is her next legislative goal?
At least if Jose got out-of-the-away, then Mary has incentive to take a shot at a legislative promotion. Otherwise though she might get stuck, and for what?
About enough about Mary.
What about the others?
Lina Ortega? Nobody cares.
Art Fierro? So long as his not drunk behind the wheel consider that a win.
Cesar Blanco? He is probably regretting not running for Congress.
Joe Moody. Yes, the Speaker had nice words for Moody, but those words were more likely an accidental kiss of death. Assuming Democrats were to take back the Texas House, there are others in his party that far more cutthroat and would sew up the Speakership before Moody can be dropped off at the airport. That and Moody has kids to feed, and being DA would allow to feed those kids and be close to them. And no, I do not think the weed thing would hurt Moody if he ran.
