I have a hard time seeing how longtime Democratic Latinos vote for Beto.
Sure, they are saying all the right things about Beto, but they have the most to lose from Beto winning.
The Democratic Party has long been, until recently, a "pay your dues" kinda party.
A lot of these longtime Democratic Latinos have done just that.
Pay their dues.
They have been in the trenches for most their life trying to climb the political ladder.
Then one day, out of left field, some rich white liberal guy, who goes around town with a Spanish nickname, steals their thunder.
Make no mistake, Latino Democratic leaders in San Antonio and the Rio Grande Valley, as well other parts of the state, will see their world turned upside down by a Beto victory.
And do not think for a second a Beto victory is necessarily a victory for El Paso.
Beto winning improves the fortunes of another rich white liberal guy - friend of Shapleigh' - Austin Mayor Steve Adler. There is a reason why you do not see Beto helping other Democrats on the ticket.
Latinos, who have been waiting for decades to sit at the table, may end up having to wait another decade or two if Beto is successful.
Sure, Latino Democratic leaders and activists may not like Trump, but Trump has limits, a Beto victory does not.
