Veronica Frescas: Revenge Pornographer?

 

Veronica, or "Roni" as she prefers to be called has thrown her hat in the ring for District 1.

Since she has her beard, Jaime Abeytia, running her PR campaign, I figured I would give her a look.

Apparently this lady has had about 50 different jobs in that past 2 years, and just when she qualifies for the insurance, she's on her to her next job.

But I digress, what I find particularly rich is her accusations that Svarzbein's trolley project is insulting because wait for it....She's more Mexican than him.

At least that's what I gathered.

First of all, Peter is not my favorite person on council. Send me the girl that eats Whataburger 3 times a day, what's her name?  Now that's something I can sink my teeth into.

Moving on...so this is not Roni's first bite at the city council apple.

Rumor has it that she was in a relationship with a nice young lady was very much involved in the community.   This young lady was set to run for City Council.  She was educated, in the right circles and to top it off, she was easy on the eyes.

Well right when she was about to get off the blocks, Roni the "integrity" candidate threatened to expose her ex-lover in ways that Max would love but that would have damaged her personally.

Say what you will about Peter, he may sell you some knock-off chicken carnitas* tacos, but he would never treat a woman like that. 

 

 

 

Texas vs Iowa

In the Texas Monthly, there's an article about your ex-Congressman and his shot at the presidency - CLICK HERE!

Which got me thinking...what if this whole "visit all 254 counties" in Texas is a dry run for Iowa?

If Beto does not mind spending hours on end in a pick-up truck eating shitty food, and smelling his own farts driving around in a state with 254 counties, I cannot imagine him mind doing that in a state that is three times as small with 99 counties.

But of course, for Iowa to happen Beto would need to lose his senate race, which may explain why he is probably in no rush to spend money despite having a lot it.

 

 

Beto's Air War

Without a doubt, your ex-Congressman is winning the air war in his race for Senate. 

But if wants to win he needs to launch a ground war. 

And I am not seeing. 

Yes, driving around town you see Beto signs...and that is about it.

I know this because my grandmother gets bombarded with political mail during the election season.  She's elderly, and speaks primarily Spanish.  In other words, the Democratic base.

She's gotten a lot of love from other Democratic candidates, whether it be mail or some asshole knocking on her door.

But from Beto? Ni mierda.

And I am not sure she even knows the guy.

Which is even more ridiculous considering Beto's cash haul.  

He is playing it way too safe with his money which may suggest he knows he is going to lose, but at least with all that cash he can still play kingmaker.

And with all that cash, I ain't doing Beto's job of informing my grandmother about him.

Fuck that noise.

 

 

 

 

 

The Red Menace

And no, I am not talking about our Russian friends.

No.

I am talking about the newest ginger in Rick Francis's life...City Representative candidate for District 8...Greg Baine.

Apparently the Money guys in El Paso are none too impressed with Cissy and do not want to take the risk of having Rich Wright as city representative.  

Speaking of Rich...is he running?

But back to the Red Menace.

So they are running Greg Baine. 

Apparently he wants to do something about El Paso's crumbling roads which is a bit rich when you think about all the money the Money guys gave to Escobar and Co.  I guess we are finally acknowledging that Escobar and Co. never took care of the basics at the city and county.  

That and of all people you have a candidate from the West Side bitching about the roads.  I guess West Siders are finally feeling charitable want street improvements in other parts of the City. 

"But Max, the district all includes downtown and it has shitty streets!"

Correction.  It has character. 

Cissy should pull it off, but I cannot imagine the Money guys wanting to throw away money to prove a point, that's something Escobar would do.  So obviously they think they have a shot here.  

 

 

What's wrong with making money?

I ask this because of my dear friend Jaime Abeytia. 

What his aversion to coming out and saying, "I am a political consultant and you gotta pay for my services."

Apparently, Jaime is consulting Veronica Frescas. 

But if the past is any indication of the future, you will not see Jaime on a campaign finance report.

More than likely, you will see a printing shop - probably Art Fierro's - on the report, and that shop, again more than likely, pays Jaime. 

But that is needless pussyfooting. 

Unless of course Jaime wants to be able to wash hands his hands in case a candidate loses.   I guess.  I suppose he can tell others and himself, "Well, that candidate never paid me." 

Or that he wants to avoid publicly putting out there his earnings because of fear of garnishment?

I can only imagine Jaime being front and center will only make him more vested in the outcome, AND it actually might get him more business.

Everyone knows political consulting is a nasty business, and you have to hire nasty people to get the job done.  But when it comes to writing checks, most people prefer a straightforward transaction.     

That and quite frankly, Jaime is pushing 50.  He's too old to be doing the stupid shit that he is doing. 

And I say this as a friend. 

 

 

Beto Withdrawal?

I have long thought Beto would be a great statewide candidate largely because he is tall, good-looking and handsome. 

And what can I say?

I have been right.

When you are tall, good-looking and handsome you can say things like, "One time Steve sharted while we were on our way to the Elbow room", and nobody would bat an eye. 

Being good-looking and handsome myself, I donated to the guy. 

Us beautiful people need to stick together.

But lately, I have had a funny feeling.

There is something off about Beto.

I cannot quite put my finger on it.

I am just not sure I would vote for the guy.

Maybe it is the fact that Beto is a runner and runners are a bit-off.   Seriously. 

Or maybe it is his dishonesty about border and immigration policy when he himself lives in probably the most militarized city on the US-Mexico border. 

Or maybe it is his dishonesty in railing against PACs but the only reason he had a congressional career was because of them.

Or maybe because I see the whole Obama thing happening all over again. 

Where people attach all sorts of false hopes and aspirations on what is an empty vessel to only get ripped-off in the end. 

And I say that as someone who voted for Obama twice.

Whatever the case maybe, I am just not as excited about the thought of having a wealthy white guy knocking off the first Latino US Senator to represent Texas from his seat as I once was.
