Who Sold Out Dee Margo?

Veronica Escobar conducted county business with her personal email account, but did anybody give a rat's phuck?

Nah.

Or at least not anybody in the local media cared.  

But being white, rich and Republican in El Paso is hard (which why David K left).

But its even harder still if you pal around with people Susie Byrd does not like.

So Margo is yet again sold out.  

But this too shall pass.  

And more than likely Margo will get re-elected despite all this.   

Another Local Area Political Consultant

Folks, there is another political consultant in town.

In addition to, Marisa Marquez, Ricardo Armendariz, Chris Hernandez, Moises Bujanda, Susie Byrd, Jaime Abeytia, that one dude that works (or worked) for Vince...who else am I missing...former mayoral candidate, David Saucedo, throws his hat into the political consulting ring.

At times it seems like El Paso area consultants are in a race to the bottom to who can do the work the cheapest. Sometimes that consultant will pay YOU with in-kind services like deejaying a wedding or write novels of a blog post just so you can consider him or her a friend.

But not Saucedo.

Cate don't work for free.

City Representative candidate, John Hogan, has already paid Saucedo $1,000.

Oddly enough though, the same day Saucedo files his assumed named with the County, he gets paid $1,000.

His firm is called "Elwolfo".

I think it's a "Teen Wolf" reference.

Or maybe because Saucedo looks like a werewolf? 

I don't know. 

But hey, he is off to a good start. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Peter Svarzbein MIGHT Lose?

Okay, this is what I get for trying to edit typos while being stuck in rush hour. 

I was bashing Peter Svarzbein.  

And then I go back to fix something and hit "Delete" rather than "Publish" because a WhatsApp message came in and now I gotta start ALL over. 

This is bullshit.

But oh well, I'll have to start all over again as exhausting as that sounds. 

In the meantime, here are my thoughts on President Donald Trump to hold you all over - 

• He is doing a great job, the only question is can he do even better?

But yes, Svarzbein and why he MIGHT lose.  

Why can he lose?

Well, one of this opponents - Carlos Corral - does not look like a slob.  

Svarzbein, well, he looks like he could use a shower and a shave.

Looks do matter. 

It is why Beto O'Rourke is getting all love that he is getting.  If Beto were short and fat, you think anybody would give a shit about him? Probably not.

But I digress.

So does this mean all hope is lost for Svarzbein?

Besides being an incumbent, besides having money, the one other thing he has over David Corral is the fact that Corral went to Cathedral. 

Larry Romero, Aaron Barraza, David Saucedo and now, Carlos Corral. 

Cathedral grads.

Yeah, you gotta wonder if their parents got their money's worth.  

Garbage in, garbage out.

So does that mean all hope is lost for Carlos?

Maybe?

If Carlos wants to win this, the best thing he can do is not open his mouth.  If he can do that, he just might pull it off.   

Oh and I had a Forma joke in my previous post because MOXIE RULEZ AND FORMA DROOLS.

Cassandra Hernandez and EPPD

You gotta appreciate City Representative Cassandra yada yada-Brown’s statement regarding  the Hoodrat-gate  incident in her district.

Per the El Paso Times:

"The City of El Paso’s Internal Affairs unit is conducting an investigation to allow due process for the officer involved and in a manner that is conducive to order and discipline. It is important that the City adheres to the Collective Bargaining agreements for incidents involving police officers to allow for a fair and expeditious process.”

And she had something else boring to say as well. Not worth posting.

Not that boring is wrong, but Cassandra did not have much of a choice other than to be boring.

This is the where the appreciation comes in.

Cassandra herself used to be, well, a hoodrat.

She probably knows better than anyone else in City Hall knows what those kids where thinking.  

And she probably knows better than anyone else what those “kids” would have done had the cop NOT gone “overboard”.

Aside - El Paso cops need to shape-up...literally.  In most other places, cops are getting ridiculously jacked.  I don’t think those hoodrats would have fucked with the cop if he looked like he could hurl them 10 yards.

 

 

City Council Races

I am gonna wager you probably will not see a lot of turnover on City Council. 

Generally speaking, whatever you hear about El Paso lately has been generally positive. 

For the first time in a long-time high-rises are being built in El Paso.  

That's a big deal.  

High-rises require serious money, unlike say tilt-wall buildings.  

How does City Council play role?

It does not.

Neither does County Commissioners Court for that matter your past, current and/or future congresspersons. 

Sorry, Paul Foster and Woody Hunt do not get credit either. 

Who, more precisely, what gets the credit?

The Texas economy.

Eventually the Texas economy was going to spill over into El Paso.

It just took a little longer than expected.

As Houston, Austin and other cities in Texas increasingly become more expensive, El Paso is looking like much better option.  

So what does this have to do with City Council races?

If the perception of El Paso is that it is on the upswing, people ain't gonna go to the polls to vote people out. 

Remember the whole funny business about San Jacinto Plaza?

Yeah, nobody cares anymore. 

Not saying the trolley is going to work, because whoever did design the downtown route is a goddamn moron, but the perception of having one is going to outweigh everything else. 

City Council challengers will have to come-up with reasons why El Paso sucks so bad that fly in the face of the perception that El Paso is doing so well. 

And nobody wants to vote for a negative Nancy and/or her male equivalent.
