Susie Byrd Strikes Again?

A little late to this, but...

What the hell was Mayor Dee Margo thinking?

Why was he texting about official city business?

And to of all people, one of Susie Byrd's girls on council. 

He should have just picked up the phone.

Or could have responded with, "Look Cassandra, as a transparency advocate I feel rather uncomfortable talking about official city business over text."

But no. 

Not too long ago I submitted an open records request on text messages about city business from one of Susie's girls. 

Lo and behold, I got nothing.  

So I find it funny that all of sudden someone submits an open records request and lo and behold, you get text messages about city business from one of Susie's girls!

I am having a hard time NOT seeing how Dee Margo got played here.

 

 

 

 

 

Everybody is Doing Carlos Sierra a Favor

Carlos Sierra is in the news.

But before we get to that, recently Bob Moore did a write-up on Carlos Sierra in the Texas Monthly about his involvement in the recent congressional race.

Hell, Moore had posted Sierra's mugshots in the article. 

The sad thing is Sierra looks better in his mugshots than Bob Moore does in real life.

I do not know what Moore was trying to accomplish, but all he did was raise Carlos Sierra's profile.  

If Moore wanted to "hurt" or "punish" Sierra, he would not have written the piece at all.  

I just have a feeling that that piece was at Veronica Escobar's urging. 

She cannot let go of a grudge.  

Now, Sierra is back in the news because of the recent county judge's race.  

Why?

Because of a facebook post.

Sierra knows the El Paso Times reporters are lazy.  

Actually, we all know they are lazy.  

So they saw Sierra's post and ran with it.  

Who benefits?

Carlos Sierra.  

If you do not like the guy, then why give the guy airtime?

I know people are trying to ding him on booze.  But let us not forget the current Democratic candidate for US Senate has had his own issues with booze.  

Then there is the other matter.  Which was ultimately dropped, but again you have another consultant in town that gets airtime that had his own legal issues regarding pornography and minors.  

In other words, there are quite bit of people involved in local politics whether as elected officials or consultants that do not exactly have a clean record. 

"What's your point, Max?"

Sierra has survived his struggles with his own personal demons and legal troubles. 

You think these articles are going to put him in his place?

 

 

 

 

 

The Good Old Days

So Samaniego did pull it off.

I guess having a lot of family in Chihuahua and being related to a popular sheriff who was to the right of Trump on border security counts for something.

That being said, you all notice something?

The old rich white guys are back.

Look at the head of city government.

Dee Margo.

Now look at the next head of county government.

Ricardo Samaniego.

Both are older, wealthy white guys.

”Samaniego is Latino!!!”

Yea, but he’s still white.

Not that there is anything wrong with that.

As of late, old rich white guys in El Paso were relegated to making campaign contributions.

But maybe El Pasoans finally got tired of all these alleged wunderkids running for office.

After all, all those wunderkids were hitting up old rich white guys for money.  

Why not just cut out the middle-man?

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Your Next County Judge is....

...nobody gives a phuck. 

Hell, he El Paso Times told you to flip-a-coin. 

The only reason the position mattered was because Veronica Escobar said it mattered. 

But between making sure no one steals at Ascarate and no one escapes the County Jail, quite frankly there is not that much to do. 

Well, take it back.

Apparently Escobar was drowning in work hence the new position - County Administrator - that she had created to alleviate her burden.

On the other hand if the job were really all that stressful, do you think two guys in there 70s would be running for the job?

Probably not.

For these guys it is an easy six-figures and another reason to tell their wives why they will not be at home on-time.  

So who is it going to be? 

My money is on John Cook.

Only the party faithful, like the really faithful, show-up to vote. 

And Cook is the party faithful's candidate. 

Meanwhile, the other guy is running around telling people about all the family he still has in Chihuahua.  It is like, "Well, you, everyone and their grandma..."

So yeah.  

County Judge John Cook.  

And he will probably be County Judge until the day he croaks.
