Oh no I hear a revenge post coming from Lionstar! Let the games begin!

The golf course will be there forever even though it is a money loser. There are a whole bunch of old people that play that course and complain every time there is a $0.25 increase in anything. They are on a "fixed income"......but they vote and the rest is history...

The story we got from the Vero was the County does not do parks but from Vince they have given at least a couple out. My community do not make the list even when we got community seed money and businesses wanting to help, we were forgotten and no one cared. We even found grands twice to help with cost but that did not get us on the list for a park to get our kids out of the streets. Then again it's a community with the poorest of the poor and no real voice in government. Hey they at least sweep our streets every few month and fill a few pot hole so guess we should feel lucky right.

Now don't talk about Vince - Claudia - Susie - Lina and Jose; They are best friends of Veronica Escobar- and we all know Vero doesn't make mistakes and Vero is vengeful ... So Vero's puppets will do as she says

Max Powers

Thomas,

Honestly, the County should not be in the park business. But if it is then needs to take care of what it has already before expanding operations elsewhere.

El Paso County been doing parks for longer than you have been alive in some form or fashion. Hell Max I know of some real small population counties in Texas that do parks and do not break the bank. Are you saying the CCC are to stupid to do the same?

Thomas

Max
Also you may just want to research the importance of park and open space to economic development of an area especially when it comes to drawing new businesses to an area. Businesses that may move there companies to area kind of look down on communities where the streets are the local kids play ground.

Max Powers

Thomas,

You should do research. Those companies interested in parks are interested in cities, not unincorporated rural areas.

People that live unincorporated areas do so partly to avoid city problems, but in doing so they avoid city amenities.

Never mind you already have great parks already (see the list above).

Max

sorry Thomas, grassy knolls, very expensive grassy knolls, do not entice businesses. educated folks and cities with good infrastructure entice businesses. cities with a huge debt/equity ratio do not entice businesses. cities with shitty city government dont entice businesses.

Having open spaces and parks is only a part of economic development but to say they are not important in helping with economic development of an area is wrong. There are tons of studies across America that say you do not know what your talking about. Parks are a win win for the any community from economic development to improved health benefits. Now if your elected officials go for the gold plate parks and line some special interest pockets in the process than I agree it is a problem but it does not have to be that way.It all starts with using some common sense and I do agree that common sense is not so common in our local government.

Max Powers

Thomas,

So you agree a dog park is a good thing?

Love,

Max

Just saying parks and open space plays a big part in community economic development. My interest in my community is to stop the local kids from having to use the street as a play ground. As to a dog park that could come under the gold plated parks that some in government push not saying it right when there is a need for community parks in poorer areas of the county.

Max Powers

Thomas,

You cannot be that dense. You do understand that a dog park can actually help reduce costs of maintenance of a park.

What's wrong kids playing the street? Do you hate kids or something? Or do you like speeding down residential streets?

Love,

Max

Thomas, were you fooled with WATER FOREVER EPWU campaign? that means higher and higher costs for water, FOREVER. who is gonna pay for that?

Thomas

Do not live in the city of El Paso so do not have to put up with that non-sense.
Max yep I hate those little ankle bitters, rug rats and curtain climbers so much that I have tried for several years to get them a park.Clearly I hate children!
Oh just a few years back a five year old was ran down playing in the street near my home by a truck, they drove away and left the baby to die in the street. The child did survive on a positive note.
Max until you have had a child die in your arms in the middle of a street after being ran over by a vehicle you can't even begin to understand which I have.

Thomas, you dont live here? keep your interest in your community. thanks.

Thomas

Yep I do live in El Paso county. You do know that the city of El Paso does not make up the whole county?

Also Vince is my County Commissioner.

Grass is not a luxury, if it was there wouldn't be grassy yards, medians, public and private business property.

The problem is mismanagement of the water supply. Proper landscaping, harvesting rain and not allow water collected just evaporate. We have a desal plant. The Israelis and Arabs learned those lessons and have water in the desert. On another note, water and food shortages are in the near future worldwide. So now is the time implement some of these programs, not later when it's too late.

Part of the problem is the idea that somehow a densely built city and congested traffic is a sign of progress. There are many empty houses, condos and apartments but they keep building in the anticipation of the mass number of people moving to El Paso. Been hearing that for over five years. Slow down the building and stop building houses on top of one another, allow for larger yards.

my apologies Thomas.
