Armando Rodriguez* Gets To The Crux Of The Matter

Now someone name "Board Trustee" commented on my previous entry.  I am not saying it is Armando Rodriguez, but I am not saying that it is not.  I am just saying someone commented who appears rather passionate about not disclosing their income.   The only person that has been really vocally about this has been...fan fare...Armando Rodriguez.   But it could easily be someone else.

But I digress.

"Board Trustee" has an issue with that fact there are 25 pages to fill.  That's only true if you are making that kind of money from that many sources including, but not limited to: stock, real estate, royalties, mutual funds, etc. 

You know what I hate? Going to see a new doctor and filling out a new patient form.  But then once you go through and start checking "no" it's no big fuckin' deal.  

The other issue "Board Trustee" has, has to do is with arrest.  Well, at least for Armando Rodriguez he's been already arrested once for drunk driving.  It doesn't get much worse than that...unless you were caught banging horses in Canutillo. 

Now, what does the law say?

It says: 

(d)  A trustee commits an offense if the trustee fails to
	file the statement required by this section. An offense under this
	section is a Class B misdemeanor.
	(e)  The commissioners court of the county shall determine
	from any available evidence whether a statement required to be
	filed under this section is late. On making a determination that
	the statement is late, the commissioners court shall immediately
	mail a notice of the determination to the individual responsible
	for filing the statement. If a statement is determined to be late,
	the individual responsible for filing the statement is liable to
	the county for a civil penalty of $500.  If a statement is more than
	30 days late, the commissioners court shall issue a warning of
	liability by registered mail to the individual responsible for the
	filing. If the penalty is not paid before the 10th day after the
	date on which the warning is received, the individual is liable for
	a civil penalty in an amount determined by the commissioners court,
	but not to exceed $10,000.

The horror!!! 

If you don't file the form you get a fcukin' warning letter!!!  If you don't respond?!?!?  A fine!?!?

No wonder Armando Rodriguez has shat his pants.

Now that Canutillo ISD School Board Presidente Armando Rodriguez is spewing his drunken bullshit on television, it got Max Powers thinking. 

Didn't Armando Rodriguez run for County Tax Assessor-Collector in 2012?

Oh that's right.  

He did!

 

Armando...presumably sober at the time.

 

And failed miserably!

Was Armando Rodriguez Drunk on TV Last Night?

Did anybody watch ABC-7 Xtra last night?

Canutillo ISD School Board Presidente, Armando Rodriguez, who was most recently arrested for drunk driving, appeared drunk on television last night.   I hope Aaron Barraza drove him to the studio.

He had a hard time putting words together. 

He had an even harder time keeping his eyes open.

Seriously.  

Watch it.

Armando apparently does not want to be held to the same level of tranparency that most elected officials are held to.  He thinks personal financial disclosures are burdensome.

But it gets better. 

Armando makes some serious allegations against Marisa Marquez, the author of the common-sense law, that can land his ass in some serious trouble.  He already has one big legal problem to deal with, does he really want to deal with another? 

But what can we expect?  It's Canutillo.  The place that gave us former House Congressional terrorist expert Silvestre Reyes. 

Greg Abbott and the Mexicans

Attorney Greg Abbott is likely to be the next Governor.  Given the likelihood, perceived or real, of it, Abbott is playing with house chips.

Abbott is going around saying that he is the candidate of women.  

And that he is the candidate of the Mexicans, or Latinos, or Hispanios, or whatever people whose last name ends in "Z" choose to collectively identify as.  

The politics of ethnopolitics aside, it is funny how Abbott is going out about his Hispanio outreach. 

In short, it goes something like this, "I am banging a Hispanio girl.  I get you.  I also have annoying Hispanio in-laws.  I get you even more.  And I have had to eat shitty homecooked Mexican food by those in-laws.  Mi culo es su culo."

I get you too.  It's about winning.  You gotta do whatever it takes.  And sometimes people will buy it.  

Hell, who knew a guy who ran on "I am a community organizer" would be POTUS?

Still it is funny.  

Using Abbott's reasoning,  I can say I understand Chinese, Black, White, and Hispanio women.  

Wilson Resigning? Emma Acosta Won't Like This.

If Joyce Wilson resigns, Emma Acosta is up shit creek without a paddle.  Correction.  Emma Acosta will be up shit creek without toilet paper.  We all know for a fact Emma Acosta cannot drop a deuce without Joyce Wilson's help.  Will Eddie Holguin or Lily Limon pinch-wipe for Joyce when Emma comes a-callin'?

Mamie Salazar-Harper Understands Politics and the Internet

Did you all read this morning's opinion piece in The El Paso Times by Mamie Salazar-Harper?  The piece where she makes her case why Attorney General Greg Abbott would be a great governor?

Yea.  Me too.  I kinda skimmed through it as well. 

But you know what I did NOT skim through?  Her picture next to the article.

It's also a sign of that Abbott is going to release the tits to combat the pair that is going to run against him.  

 

El Paso and The Shutdown

A lot of people are harping on Republicans for having the survivalist instinct of a Japanese kamikaze pilot as they try to negotiate (or not) with the Obama Administration.  

As a result, we have a shutdown.  Although last I checked from a recent travel, TSA is still inspecting your junk with radiation.  

But I digress.  

Anyways.  So why are we here with this shutdown? Well, remember that thing called "The Sequester"?  Oh, that's right.  Y'all forgot.  That's the point.  The sequester was supposed to be Armageddon, but it turned out that it was not.  Had the sequester lived up to its horror, we would not be having a "shutdown".  But we are.  Life is carrying on.

Now a default would be a little crazy.  It would be like the world Tyler Durden envisioned...setting everything back to zero.  

On the other hand, Argentina did default.  Yes, it is an economic shithole.  But people still enjoy coffee in little cafes all throughout Buenos Aires.  I am sure House Republican Mark Sanford, who met his new wife in Argentina, is telling other Republican House members, "Man, default ain't that bad.  Shit go to Buenos Aires, and you can still find skinny women, good meat, and great coffee all over the place."  

Unfortunately in the event of default none of those things will be found in El Paso.  

 

Why Naomi Gonzalez Can Win

Naomi Gonzalez' biggest problem might be her biggest asset.

Yes, driving drunk is bad.  

But she did.

But let's face it....half this town is sloshed.  When do elected officials NOT get pulled over for driving drunk? Did drunk driving stop Dan Haggerty?  No.  In fact in some weird, some would argue perverse, way that endeared him to people.  "Oh, it's just Dan." 

If there is anyone in this town that needs to remove a stick out of the ol' rectum it's Naomi...at least perception wise.   And this accident may have done that.  I can see it now, "Oh, you mean the lesbian, oh man I thought she was kina culera, but then she got drunk.  I mean she likes me homes. 'ember that time we got drunk at my Tio Chuy's cookout after the Cowboys lost and we were swerving all over Zaragoza and then cops pulled us over. 'ember that?!?!?"

Also 'ember Naomi is a Democrat.  Ted Kennedy got drunk and killed someone, but mention his name at any Democratic function in El Paso, you'd think you were talking about Christ himself.  

Now, I know some of you all are asking, "Well, can't Naomi at least apologize?" 

Thanks to our legal system  sincerity and comedy can be considered a crime or an admission of guilt.  

Naomi may like to party, but she still has enough brain cells (certainly more than Norma Chavez) to know how the law works in these parts. 

She will get beaten up by surrogates - never mind the fact some of those surrogates have probably been pulled over for drunk driving or have relatives that were - and rightfully so.  But so long as she maintains her cool she will do alright.  She certainly managed to maintain her cool when Norma, the middle-aged, childless, never-been married biker, called Naomi a "Xena watchin', softball batting cage dwellin', carpet munchin' Mexican."  I am paraphrasing.  

The other thing Naomi has got going for her...legal problem aside...maturity.  She ain't postin' selfies on facebook....no, she just texts those to me.

Oh, there is the whole incumbency thing and money advantage....very boring bullshit stuff.  

Time to watch some Xena.  Haven't you all seen Lucy Lawless on Larry David's show that one time? Man, she looked good.  I get it.  I'd sit on a couch and eat Doritos with her too.

Contrary to Jaime O. Perez's press release, Joe Wardy is NOT running for County Judge.

Cesar Blanco's Problem

So yesterday we talked about Norma's problem(s) when she runs against Naomi.  

Now it is time to talk about Cesar Blanco's problem.

His biggest problem...lack of huevos.

It's October and he is probably only 91 percent "in".  Jesus Christ, man.  Marisa Marquez had already dropped some sack back in late August when she took on a 40-year incumbent.  Cesar is running against a two-term incumbent with a serious legal issue, and he still is not ready?  

One reason he may not be ready yet is because while he grew up in the district he no longer has any connections to it.  That is not to say El Pasoans do not vote for carpetbaggers, but take Mary Gonzalez for example.  It was easy for her to carpetbag because she still had family in district and she could use her parent's address as her residence.   Cesar is either too busy looking for an apartment or trying to buy a home.  The worse part is looking for a home and apartment in District 76.  Just drive along Alameda...you all know what I mean.  

But hell if you want it, you will take it.  Dee Margo wasn't gonna let a residency requirement stop him.  First thing he did was rent an apartment in then-Haggerty's district to take on Haggerty. 

His other problem is that his success hinges way too much upon how Naomi and Norma Chavez interact with one another.  

Norma will very likely implode, but Naomi?  That's still a big maybe.  If Naomi can stick to script and remain disclipined, then Cesar has to present his own case....which he is still not sure what that is.

Cesar does not want to get dirty and would-be donors are probably picking up on that.  The Texas Trial Lawyers' Association does not want to drop $100k  on someone who is too scared to get the job done.  

Cesar's biggest advantage will likely turn out to be his biggest disadvantage...his squeaky clean image. Which he seems hell bent to protect.  Don't get me wrong, he has an impressive resume.  But resumes do not win elections (see Bush v. Gore, Bush v. McCain, Obama v. McCain, Obama v. Clinton, Clinton v. Bush).
