Not too long ago - August 16th to be exact - your City Representative Cassandra Hernandez-Brown spoke to KVIA about possibly changing the name of Robert E. Lee Road.
According to her, she "received a high-volume of complaints from constituents" regarding the road's name.
So yours truly submitted an open records request to the City of El Paso for the following:
"...I am seeking all emails received by City Representative Cassandra Hernandez-Brown between August 12, 2017 and August 16, 2017 regarding Robert E. Lee Road."
Why those dates?
Well, all the shit that went down in Charlottesville happened between the 11th-12th, and on the 16th KVIA ran its story.
Here is what I got from the City: Download W048860_Responsive_Email
It turns out NO ONE complained about the road.
People did call into complain, but they called into complain about Hernandez-Brown making this road name an issue.
So where and how did Hernandez-Brown get this "high-volume" of complaints?
Text message? Personal email?
Or maybe by "high-volume" Hernandez-Brown meant to say, "Well, Susie thinks changing the name is good way to score some cheap political points."
Only Hernandez-Brown can clear this up.
For what it is worth, yes I believe the name should be changed.
But there is no reason to lie about the reason why you are changing it.
If Hernandez-Brown is lying over something like this, God knows what else she will lie about next.
