I am sure you all read this article: Read here!
Certainly on this blog, I have picked on Joe Moody for authoring a bill that requires the Texas Department of Transportation to do something it already does...study traffic.
"But it's about our border crossings!!!"
Yes, TxDOT has studied that before.
Have you all been to the mall on Monday? It's slow. Not many people are there. You can move freely.
Have you all been to the mall on Saturday? It's packed. Many people are there. It is harder to move.
Which day do you think is actually better for business at the mall? That's right, Saturday. The day that it is most crowded is the best day for the mall to make money. It does not make money on that Monday that you are wandering aimlessly.
Same concept when it comes to roads.
You know who does not have long wait times at the border? Del Rio.
You know how many people live in Del Rio? 35,000.
You know how many people live in El Paso? 700,000.
This "congestion" is a sign of prosperity, not of despair.
But not for Joe Moody, who is stuck on the Juarez side of the border waiting in his car with a bad case of the runs. Then no, congestion sucks...at least in one sense for him.
