Brownfield's Problem

I was reading the White One's blog, David K, about Brownfield re-retiring.

Mr. K believes it was the crowd that Brownfield lent an ear to that got him in trouble. 

But that was just the symptom.  

Brownfield's problem is that he is too cynical for this own good.  It is his cyncism that allows him to lend his ear to those folks.  

Brownfield thinks I kiss ass to power.   Sure.   But I always use mouthwash afterwards.   

But Brownfield, the problem is not the "power".  It is something else.
