...and no, I am not talking about the kind of Bush Mary Gonzalez pretends to eat.
No, folks, I am talking about George W. Bush, the greatest president in the history of the world.
Somewhere in Dallas, Dubya is laughing his ass off.
When Dubya first proposed invading Iraq the "international community" got pissed. By "international community", I mean France. And France had a laundry list of reasons and objections against the invasion of Iraq. Which looking back now, we know those reasons and objections were dishonest. Although some right-wingers would claim that they knew this all along.
Fast foward to the present, France is engaged in military operations in a Muslim country (Mali). It has been less than two years when France engaged in military operations in another Muslim country (Libya). In both instances, the French were and are acting like the American cowboy they hate and started shit on their own terms. Hell, at least Bush had the courtesy of going to the UN. The French? Nah. Yet, we think Bush is an asshole, and the French our friends.
Don't get me wrong. I am pulling for Le Blue and hope they kick Islamic extremist ass.
But let's not beat up on Bush for being a "cowboy". Compared to the French, Bush was acting downright...well...French.
I admire your devotion to Dubya. Saddam Houssein was an American mistake gone wrong (as are most US-supported dictators in the world) and he needed to be taken out. And Bush 1 didn't help the Iraqis get rid of him when we had the chance. So Dubya fixed "daddy"'s mistake - best thing ever. I agree with you there.
However, did we really need to park ourselves like the British Empire in Iraq (and Afghanistan) for the next 12 years? That cost a lot of money and really pushed our military to the edge. It's turning to be the death of the US.
I don't agree with you on this being "cowboy" - if anything we were a great gal pal for France to re-realize their potential, playing on their jealousy. I mean, France really had this invasion/colony thing down. They lost their touch (alas, Vietnam) and were living in their glory days, like a has-been supermodel, but we helped them realize that they can have a comeback as the "we know better" power. "If these rough Americans can invade, and they are new at this, what are we doing? We used to do this all stylish in ruffles and satin." If anything, we helped France get out of their rut. Competition is good like that.

Whoa. You just broke an internet rule. That rule is that the comment should not be longer than the post.
